Ett bråk backstage inför UFC 279 fick UFC-chefen Dana White att ta ett tufft beslut och ställa in presskonferensen ”för allas säkerhet”. White kom senare att bekräfta att bland annat UFC-svensken Khamzat Chimaev varit inblandad i bråk med sina UFC-kollegor Kevin Holland och Nate Diaz.
– Vi har aldrig haft en incident som denna idag, sade Dana White. Hela helvetet brakade loss där ute. Jag vet inte ens hur man ska förklara det. Vi stoppade det, men vi gjorde inte ett bra jobb med att inte låta det ske.
MMA-reportern Ariel Helwani kom senare att rapportera att Khamzat hade sparkat Holland i bröstet och att Team Diaz senare kom att blanda sig in i situationen. Ett flertal UFC-stjärnor och MMA-profiler kom att kommentera händelsen och många var kritiska till det som utspelat sig i Las Vegas.
