Det skapades stor kontrovers när UFC meddelade att man skrivit kontrakt med fightern Benjamin Brinsa. Detta eftersom tysken påstås vara kopplad till både huliganism och högerextrema rörelser. UFC har ännu inte givit ett officiellt uttalande om situationen, men i en intervju med Ariel Helwani på MMAfighting kommenterade Dana White situationen.
Enlight White kommer Brinsa omedelbart få sparken om några kopplingar till högerextrema rörelser kan bevisas. Däremot var det mer oklart gällande Brinsas bakgrund som huligan, ett begrepp som White inte riktigt var bekant med:
”I don’t know exactly what that (hooligan) means. But obviously, the guy’s undefeated and we are going to look into it. And if he, in any way, shape, or form is involved in racist groups, neonazi groups, or anything negative like that, he’ll be cut. But I don’t want to jump the gun, because some people are tweeting stuff, and jump the gun and ruin this guys life if it’s not true. So we’re going to look into it. I literally have a whole team of lawyers in house looking at it right now in Vegas, and if it’s true, yeah.”
