I den delade huvudmatchen på UFC 207 gör Cody Garbrandt upp med mästaren Dominick Cruz om bantamviktsbältet. Inför matchen menar Garbrandt att det är han som är framtiden och att Cruz redan börjar se slut ut.
Cody Garbrandt är aktuell för en titelmatch om UFCs bantamviktsbälte. Den långvarige mästaren Dominick Cruz anses av många vara den bäste bantamviktaren genom MMA-historien, men 25-årige Garbrandt är av en annan åsikt. De båda slagskämparna gör upp på årets sista gala, UFC 207 den 30:e december.
Under en medielunch inför UFC 207 uppger Garbrandt att han tycker att 31-årige Cruz redan nu börjar förbereda sig inför ett nytt kapitel i sitt liv.
“I believe he’s getting ready for the next chapter in his life. He took the FOX commentating job. He’s a great broadcaster. He does amazing at that.”
“I think he’s losing focus. He’s working two weeks before the fight. He’s breaking down all these fights. You got me in front of you. You should be solely focused on me.”
”Cruz är OK med att inte ha titeln”
”No Love” menar att han har full respekt för vad Cruz har åstadkommit under sin långa karriär men att den är på väg mot sitt slut:
“He knows that he has to dance around and evade that pressure, evade someone that’s fast and a knockout artist for 5 rounds. That’s hard to do especially with how old he is. Especially with that two ACL surgeries, he doesn’t move the way he does.
“Another thing, too, he said he’s happy without having the belt. He didn’t need that to be happy. So for me, he’s kind of relinquishing that. He’s kind of going to the next chapter, getting ready for that. He’s being okay with not having (the title).”
Garbrandt (10-0) har tio raka segrar inför matchen med Cruz (22-1), som själv går in i matchen med 13 raka segrar.
