Den kommande utmanaren i weltervikt Rory MacDonald (18-2) anser att Carlos ”The Natural Born Killer” Condit (30-8) förtjänar nästa chans på bältet före Johny ”Bigg Rigg” Hendricks (17-3) eftersom han är farligare under fem ronder.
Den 11 juli ska Rory MacDonald gå sin första titelmatch i UFC när han möter mästaren ”Ruthless” Robbie Lawler (25-10-1) i en returmatch från deras match vid UFC 167 år 2013. I en fullspäckad division finns redan flera potentiella utmanare som inväntar resultatet i titelmatchen. Den som de flesta anser har bäst rätt är den tidigare mästaren Johny ”Bigg Rigg” Hendricks men MacDonald tycker att Carlos ”The Natural Born Killer” Condit är mer lämplig trots att han har en relativt färsk förlust mot Hendricks. Kanadensaren säger till MMAjunkie att han tycker att Condit är en farligare fighter under fem ronder än Hendricks:
”I’d like it if Carlos got (the title shot) because I think Carlos is one of the best in the division and the most dangerous fighter with a five-round fight. He’s a very dangerous fighter. Three-round fights I don’t think are beneficial to (Condit); I think that’s why he lost the decision against Hendricks. I think if that was a five-round fight – you can’t say for sure because it didn’t happen – but I think it was going toward Carlos in that fight if it kept going longer. I think Carlos is a more dangerous fighter, personally. Not that Johny’s not (dangerous); he’s great, he’s a top contender, and he was a champion for a reason. Both of them are great, and either one is going to be a great challenger”.
