De mindre viktklasserna får mycket kritik för att vara just mindre. Det finns killar som är under 160 cm långa, och många anser att de därför inte är speciellt intressanta att kolla på. En av dessa som inte riktigt håller med om kritiken är flugviktaren John Dodson som rykter tillbaka i en ny intervju med UFC.
”Everyone’s going to continuously say the same things: `they’re just midgets in there fighting’ or `they’re kids fighting.’ We’re not actually kids – we’re full-grown men, and sooner or later, people will start coming around and realizing that those weight classes are the good ones,” säger Dodson. ”They probably said (the same things) when boxing started losing (heavyweights) like Tyson, Holyfield, Muhammad Ali.”
Dodson är för närvarande aktuell i en match om en titelchans mot Jussier Formiga på fredagens UFC on FX.
