Jon Jones (21-1) kommer att försvara sitt lättungviktsbälte för nionde gången mot Anthony Johnson (19-4). Jones anser att han kommer att ha rensat divisionen efter att ha vunnit mot Johnson, som han är säker på att han kommer att besegra och kommer då att kunna tänka sig ta sig en superfight mot tungviktsmästaren Cain Velasquez.
Jones har även sagt att han kan möta Fabricio Werdum (19-5-1-01) ”all day every day” för att han tycker att Werdum skulle vara en bra match-up för honom då han är en ganska liten heavyweight och nu har Jones sagt något liknande om Velasquez.
”I don’t know when I am going to move up in weight. I’ve entertained the thought of going to heavyweight so many times, and I think right now — with all due respect to Anthony — I believe I’ll win that fight and get into super fights and rematches,” Sa Jones.
”If I do go to heavyweight or when I do go to heavyweight, I do believe I have the skill set to beat Cain (Velasquez),” Sa han. ”Cain’s a magnificent opponent. My main reason for believing I’ll beat Cain is his size. He’s not one of those massive heavyweights who’s going to just outweigh and out-power me in every situation. He’s a guy I can totally compete with, that I’m smart enough to compete with him.”
I januari så sa Jones ”I would fight Cain Velasquez in a heartbeat. I really would. I would love to fight AKA’s best athletes. I believe I can defeat them all”
