I en ingående intervju som nyligen genomförts avslöjar Josh Koscheck att han och UFCs vd Dana White haft ett minst sagt spänt förhållande.
Welterviktaren Josh ”Kos” Koscheck var en profil i UFC en längre tid och hann utmana om divisionens titel en gång. När hans kontrakt med UFC gick ut valde han dock att teckna kontrakt med rivalorganisationen Bellator, något som förvånade många.
I en intervju med Bleacher Report gör dock Koscheck saker och ting betydligt tydligare för utomstående. I den ingående intervjun berättar han att han och UFCs vd Dana White haft ett oerhört spänt förhållande i flera år, även om de spelat fint för kameror och medier.
Bland annat berättade Koscheck om hur han blev fullständigt utskälld av White för att ha kritiserat UFCs, vid det tillfället, kommande deal med Reebok.”Kos” förklarade att en ursinnig White ringde upp honom, svor åt honom och hotade med att sparka honom. Koscheck kommenterade även Whites utbrott på Twitter, där han förolämpade fans som var kritiska mot att UFC sparkade Jacob ”Stitch” Duran.
”How can you respect a guy that runs a company and goes on Twitter rants, who calls people all the names that he calls people? I think it’s childish,” berättade Koscheck. ”He’s supposed to be the president of a major company, a billion dollar company, and that’s how he acts? You don’t see Roger Goodell doing things like that.
”And you won’t see Scott Coker going on Twitter and telling people they look goofy or fat. Or, ‘we got that many years out of you, thanks for your money.’ Come on. It’s embarrassing. I don’t want to work for a guy like that.”
I slutändan erkänner dock Koscheck att han har gott om respekt för UFC på grund av vad organisationen åstadkommit för MMA som sport. Samtidigt tydliggör han vad han tycker och tänker om White samt att det helt enkelt finns saker han inte är villig att förlåta.
”This is just my opinion, but I think Dana is just the front boy for the Fertittas. He’s their little errand bitch. They’re losing fans every day because of the things he does,” sa han. ”The UFC has done a great job. They built this sport. They put a lot of dollars in, and they took a lot of risk. I can respect the fact that he works his ass off. But there are other things that I can’t respect.”
Även om inget ännu är bokat så har Koscheck sökt en returmatch med Paul Daley sedan bägge nu har kontrakt med Bellator. Det återstår att se om matchen bokas, men Koscheck verkar onekligen vara nöjd med sitt beslut att skriva på för Bellator och lämna UFC bakom sig.
