Det har varit upp och ned för Roy Nelson på sistone. Han är dock hoppfull att få en chans på titeln i framtiden. Ska han möta nuvarande mästaren Stipe Miocic vill han dock ha ett ordentligt camp först den här gången.
Roy Nelson (21-12) har förlorat 5 av sina senaste 7 matcher, men tror på att allt som krävs för att vinna bältet är en ordentlig smäll. När Stipe Miocic (15-2) tog över titeln via knockout fick han upp hoppet om att själv bli världsmästare.
Stipe gave me inspiration, because if Stipe can be that UFC champion, and they actually gave him a title shot, then I’m like, ‘Ah, I do have a chance.
I would love to fight Stipe again, especially now, because he’s the champ, and with a full camp. I would love a full camp.”
Härnäst kommer Nelson dock att möta Derrick Lewis (15-4).
”Derrick reminds me of a bigger version of Fedor, like when he gets that ground-and-pound going he’ll just beat you up. He’s calm, cool and collected when you take him down, and you know, he just muscles back up and puts the wrath on. The one thing I like is that he comes to fight. That’s what makes him fan friendly.”
Om Nelson vinner tar han gärna en titelfight, men i dagsläget ser han inte bortom Lewis.
”I just think the UFC owes it to me to give me a full camp to beat Miocic. But I’m not worried about that right now. All I care about is Derrick.”
