En match mellan Anderson Silva och Georges St-Pierre har varit på tapeten ett tag. Men med tanke på St-Pierres kommande match mot Carlos Condit på UFC 155 så har den skjutits upp lite. Men det innebär inte att både fans och UFCs VD Dana White har hindrats att tala om det. Sakta men säkert har även Silva själv börjat tala om det, och han bekräftar att det är Whites önskan att matchen genomförs.
”I hope this is my next fight,” säger Silva till Brasiliansk media, översatt av ESPN. ”We want to do a super-fight. I drop a little weight and he goes up a little.
”It is going to happen anyway, it is Dana White’s wish. I think fighting him makes all the sense as well because he is a great name of the sport. As a UFC athlete I want to fight the best and St-Pierre is one of them. Then we try to put on a good show for the fans.”
För närvarande är även Silva själv inbokad i en match på UFC 153 mot Stephan Bonnar på lätt tungvikt. Men i den viktklassen räknar han inte med att stanna.
”I’m doing this fight only to give it to fans here in Brazil,” Silva explained. ”The fight against Chael Sonnen should have occurred here, but there were issues that prevented it.
”I don’t have any intention to continue fighting in this division. My category is 185lbs. Period.”
