”I’m always willing to help these guys. To have these champions calling you, asking for your help, it’s an honor and definitely a privilege. Whenever I go and train with GSP, Chris Weidman, all these guys, you can’t help but learning something new. I feel it definitely have helped me with my confidence, working with these guys, it has helped me to get where I am now.”…”It is such a grind with these guys, they put themselves through so much pressure, training time, pain and mental anguish, these guys are champions for a reason, that’s what I take back from these guys, if I can go five five minute rounds with Chris (Weidman), I can take anyone at 170 on”.
”It has always been fairly easy for me, but what helped me tremendously is training smart. You go to some gyms and feel like you have to fight for your life every time you step on to the mat. This is not a fight man, this is training”…”Training smart will definitely help you with your longevity in your fight career, and it has definitely helped me. Everybody know I hurt my leg years ago, and I have had four surgery’s on it, my most recent one was after my last fight with Jake Ellenberger, but my knee feels great, staying on physical therapy, doing the right thing. I feel awesome man”.
“I like to go in and watch the sparring classes and see how they do things. I have been to some gyms where they actually wear MMA-gloves and they are going 100%, I’m not doing this it’s not worth the risk, you can get a concussion two weeks before the fight, an ACL-tear, someone jumping on your leg – it’s not worth it. If you go to a new gym, I recommend you to watch the classes, see what they have to offer and see if it is something for you”.
