När Brian Stann skadat sig fick Tim Boetsch möjligheten att välkomna talangen Hector Lombard till UFC på UFC 149. UFCs VD Dana White har tidigare uttalat sig om att Lombard skulle få en titelchans om han nu vinner övertygande. Det Boetsch hoppas på är att han ska få samma chans.
”My opponent’s popularity doesn’t concern me at all,” säger Boetsch till FC Fighter. ”I think an interesting fact is how highly regarded Hector is by the UFC. Dana White had said himself that Hector would get a title shot if he had gone in and defeated Stann handily. I hope he gives me the same shot when I take Hector out. I felt like that after beating Bisping I would have to win one more fight after that to earn the right to be called the number one contender, but I think if I take Hector out in an impressive fashion that’s going to jump me to the front of the line.”
Sedan Boetsch gjorde sin mellanviktsdebut mot Kendall Grove på UFC 130 för lite mer än ett år sedan har han satt tre raka vinster. Han är ännu obesegrad i den viktklassen, och om han faktiskt vinner övertygande kan det hända att VD White utser en ny utmanare på mellanviktstiteln.
