Mellanviktaren Tim Kennedy (18-5) är inte särskilt sugen på att kolla på titelmatchen i hans division vid UFC 187 mellan mästaren Chris Weidman (12-0) och utmanaren Vitor ”The Phenom” Belfort (24-10). Deta på grund av Belforts tidigare användande av olagliga substanser.
UFC 187 innehåller just nu två titelmatcher och den ena är för mellanviktstiteln då Chris Weidman tar emot Vitor ”The Phenom” Belfort. Matchen har skjutits upp vid två tidigare tillfällen på grund av skador men det är int på grund av denna anledning som den frispråkige mellanviktaren Tim Kennedy har tappat lusten att kolla på fighten. Istället ser han Belforts tidigare användande av testosteoron som ett tydligt exempel på att mannen som utmanar mästaren är en fuskare:
”Yeah man, my excitement for this fight is dropping like Vitor Belfort’s testosterone level. Just, like plummeting every single day; and having nothing to do with Chris Weidman. It’s just, failed drug test here, hidden drug test there, a fake injury here. It’s just like come on man, you’ve been cheating the system for too long, you kind of got caught, even though you’ve been caught a couple of times in the past”. Det är i synnerhet Belforts hyckleri som gör att Kennedy inte ser honom som en värdig utmanare för bältet.
”It’s like, I don’t even think he deserves to be fighting for a title. I know he’s a huge name in Brazil and people love him and he has a great haircut, you know and Jesus Christ is like the best greatest thing in the world, and he drinks unicorn blood, but like the hypocrisy that exists within that one man is just too enormous to list in this short interview”. Kennedy har inte fightats sedan hans förlust mot Yoel Romero vid UFC 178 förra året men har nyligen uttryckt ett intresse för att få möta Lyoto ”The Dragon” Machida.
