Tim Kennedy är inte bara en fighter i UFC och kommandosoldat i amerikanska armén. Den pratglade amerikanen har blivit något av en lightversion på Chael Sonnen, som gärna syns och hörs när tillfälle ges. Kennedy blandar humor och en rapp käft och har dessutom ett helamerikanskt utseende som gör sig i media. Därmed har frågan uppstått om det finns planer på en filmkarriär i fotspåren på Quinton Jackson, Gina Carano och Randy Couture. Kennedy avslöjar att ambitionen finns:
”I’ve done a little acting, and every time I do it, they want me to do more,” berättade Kennedy för MMAjunkie.com. ”Right now I want to fight until I can’t fight the best guys in the world. We’re not quite there yet. I need for this chapter of my life to be done. I need to fight the best guys in the world and beat them. Then I can move on.”
Kennedy var övertygad om att satsningen på Hollywood skulle bli en succé när den väl skedde.
”I think Jake Gyllenhaal has nothing on me in the hair department.I know I’m going to make waves in Hollywood, it’s just not yet.”
Kennedy menade att fighters som satsar på att bli filmstjärnor alltid misslyckas på något område, att det aldrig fungerar att ha två karriärer samtidigt:
”There hasn’t been a single instance where a guy has been splitting his time between acting and fighting and been a successful fighter, and/or a successful actor. Both of them take a lot of commitment and dedication to be successful at, and I don’t think you can do them at the same time.”
Som vanligt när det gäller Kennedy, är det inte lätt att veta vad som är allvar och inte. Men på önskelistan över framtida mediauppdrag listade mellanviktaren bland annat matlagningsprogram och en önskan om att vara body double åt Natalie Portman:
”There’s things that I would enjoy doing on TV. Cooking shows, hunting shows, shooting shows, hosting a survival show, hosting military competitions. Those are the type of things that I would enjoy. If I’m not having fun, I don’t want to do it… I’m very much looking forward to being Natalie Portman’s stunt double. Until I can be Natalie Portman’s butt with my butt, I don’t want to be in Hollywood,”
