As mentioned in the article above, there is a chance UFC 226 featured 3 champion vs. champion fights. Miocic vs. DC, DJ vs. TJ and Cyborg vs. Nunes. The latter two aren’t close to done but there is certainly a chance this happens.

UFC made the right call booking Miocic vs. Cormier next for a few reasons:
1) it’s fun and different.
2) there are no clear-cut, available contenders in either division.

Can’t overstate enough how important 2018 is for the UFC. They need to score big with their TV deal and every decision is geared around that. They will pull out every rabbit possible to be a hot commodity as talks heat up. So expect more of the unexpected.
