Förre detta UFC-fightern Frank Trigg har arresterats för misshandel av sin fru, rapporterar ProMMAnow.com som talat med polismyndigheten i Las Vegas. Han sitter för närvarande häktad i Clark County Detention Center i Las Vegas. Borgenssumman som är satt till $15,000 i väntan på rättegången som väntas äga rum den 10 augusti.
Han ska ha arresterats för en incident förra året som först rapporterades av skvallersajten The Dirty i April:
MMA fighter Frank Trigg choked out his wife in front of his children on October 17th, 2011. They are now going through a VERY messy divorce and the children who saw the carnage are right in the middle of it. He no longer is employed at HDnet because he was sleeping with a co-worker, assistant producer, 23 year old Amy Vaughn. The company does not approve of the affair and abuse that they were made aware of soon after the incident and have chosen not to utilize his services as a commentator anymore.
Trigg kommenterade på The MMA Hour ryktet på följande sätt:
”I’ve never been arrested, I’ve never been picked up, I’ve never been convicted of anything ever in my life other than a speeding ticket,” he said. ”That’s the only thing I’ve ever been convicted of. That’s it. So I don’t know where this other stuff is coming from. I have no idea what’s going on, but I’ve never been charged with any crime ever in my life, ever, other than speeding and maybe a couple illegal parkings.”
Trigg gick sin första match i UFC 2004 mot Matt Hughes. Han förlorade denna match som var för titeln i weltervikt. Trigg skulle sedan komma att utmana om titel ännu en gång mot Georges St-Pierre utan att lyckas vinna titeln. Trigg gick sin sista match i UFC på UFC 109 i februari 2010 vilket var en match mot Matt Serra, som knockade honom i första ronden.
På senare tid har Trigg kombinerat att fightas för diverse organisationer som BAMMA, med att kommentera matcher. Trigg ska dock ha förlorat sin roll som kommentator på den amerikanska kanalen HDNet och denna incident ska ha bidragit till att han sparkades. Trigg gick senast en MMA-match den 10 september 2011 mot Jim Wallhead, en match som har förlorade på delat domslut.
