I think that she’ll [Holm] really enjoy her life a lot more [if she loses]. The life of a champion, I think isn’t for everybody. And I think that the life of a contender, it’s a lot nicer in a lot of ways. […] I think this kind of environment isn’t what Holly would like.
If she thinks about, if she’s basically saying ‘if I win,’ then she’s got that thought in her head already, so that’s awesome. So she’s saying with a win that I won’t be able to handle it, but with a win I’ll be able to handle anything. That’s what I care about. That’s the bottom line.
Maybe it’s coming from a place where she has a lot of pressure and media attention on her. She might be thinking it is a lot to handle, and maybe she is thinking no one else can do what (she does). Trust me, with a win, I will be able to handle it.
I don’t want to go into the fight thinking, ‘she’s going to come out with this, so I’m going to throw this. A fight is unpredictable. that’s why people love to watch fights. You don’t know what’s going to happen. So, I want to go in with kind of an open-ended plan and be able to adjust along the way.
I am always nervous, it doesn’t matter what fight it is. Every fighter has their strengths, anything can happen in there. […] If I didn’t have nerves it would be like I didn’t care if I win or lose. It is natural. I know I have big things ahead of me.
