Strikeforce-importerna Luke Rockhold och Tim Kennedy är båda två ute efter en match mot ”The Count”.
Efter att ha segrat i deras senaste respektive matcher via knockout, så har både Luke Rockhold (11-2) och Tim Kennedy (17-4) stigit i UFCs rankning. Bägge före detta Strikeforce-fighters är dessutom ute efter en match mot den brittiske Ultimate Fighter-vinnaren Michael ”The Count” Bisping (24-5).
Rockhold gjorde det klart efter presskonferensen för UFC Fight Night 35, där han besegrade Costa Philippou via teknisk knockout i den första ronden.
“I already let it be known Bisping’s out there,” sa Rockhold efter sin vinst. ”A lot of people are calling him out, but Bisping went on national TV and told everybody he was the unofficial Strikeforce champion. He calls it a joke and this and that, but I say he’s got bad taste and he needs to pay for it.
“I’d like to get that match. He’s a top five middleweight out there. There’s not many guys freed up right now, but I’m interested in getting in there as soon as possible and having a good 2014.”
Kennedy har i sin tur talat och frågat efter en match mot Bisping sedan han tog sig segrande via knockout ur en match mot Rafael Natal på UFC Fight for the Troops 3.
”@bisping you are conveniently a tough guy when you are still hiding behind that little eye patch of yours,” skrev Kennedy på Twitter.
”@TimKennedyMMa well it’s simple. Call the UFC and say u wanna fight me in April. Put your money where your mouth is big shot,” svarade Bisping.
Matchen har ryktats som bokad för UFC 172, men inga officiella källor har bekräftat nyheten.
Bakgrunden till att Rockhold utmanade Bisping har att göra med ett uttalande från britten om att han dominerat Strikeforce-mästaren Rockhold i sparring. När mellanviktsmästaren sedan berättade om sin önskan på presskonferensen tog Bisping till Twitter för att kommentera utmaningen, men Kennedy tog tillfället i akt för att trycka på en match han och Bisping emellan.
”@LukeRockhold congrats on the win. Still hurt over me telling the truth about how I handed you your ass that time? Join the queue big fella,” skrev Bisping på Twitter, och fick följande svar av Kennedy:
”@bisping I know you are scared to fight me. Leave @LukeRockhold out of this. You are fighting (and losing to) me.”
