Den något förvånande nyheten togs inte emot alltför väl av engelsmannen, som inte är redo att avskriva Le skuld för att ha brukat otillåtna preparat inför matchen de två emellan.
Det var i veckan som det stod klart att Cung Le (9-3) fick rätt i dopingfallet rörande vietnames-amerikanens senaste match, då han testade positivt för tillväxthormoner (HGH). Le blir därmed den första inom sporten att få igenom en överklagan rörande ett misstänkt fall av doping, vilket dock inte lämnar Michael Bisping (25-6) övertygad om 42-åringens oskuld.
”I won it in style, via stoppage, and I got a bonus for it. If anything, it makes me look better that he was on all kinds of stuff and I was able to beat him,” förklarade Bisping under en intervju med ESPN. Han fortsatte:
”Regarding the suspension being lifted, listen, I’m not a scientist. I don’t know all the details. I know the blood samples were destroyed, so it looks like, to me, he got off on a loophole or a technicality.”
Bisping avslutade Le i fjärde ronden under mötet i Macao, Kina förra månaden, vilket alltså följdes av de nu underkända dopingtesterna. Engelsmannen låter dock inte situationen påverka honom avsevärt, då han hellre blickar framåt mot kommande utmaning i Luke Rockhold (12-2) nästa månad.
”They’re saying his HGH levels were high after a fight for a number of natural reasons,” fortsatte Bisping. ”Well, his were the only levels that were high. Mine weren’t high. Nobody else’s were high. He was the one everybody was suspecting going into the fight. There’s no smoke without fire, but I’m not a scientist and I haven’t even read the stories about it because I couldn’t care less. Cung Le is old news for me. Done and dusted. I’m focused on the future.”
