Som tidigare rapporterat kommer Renato ”Babalu” Sobral ta sig an Chael Sonnen under Metamoris 6 som äger rum i Los Angeles den 9:e maj. En match som enligt Sobral kommer ta slut under matchens första tio minuter.
Renato Sobral (37-11) och Chael Sonnen (28-14-1) har faktiskt gått match mot varandra två gånger sedan tidigare. Första gången var för tolv år sedan under Hitman Fighting 3 där Sonnen lyckades vinna ett domslut mot brasilianaren. Två år senare möttes de igen under UFC 55 där Sobral segrade via en triangle choke i den andra ronden. Nu kommer de göra upp för en tredje gång fast denna gång under Metamoris regelverk.
”Metamoris rules are interesting because you don’t have to worry about scoring points and stuff like that, you only have to worry about finishing the match and entertaining the fans,” sa Sobral till MMAfighting.com. ”Metamoris came to change the submission and grappling world. We only had ADCC before, but ADCC if too far away. Metamoris’ production is amazing. They do an amazing show, so it’s pretty cool to compete there.”
Sobral fortsätter, ”I competed at Metamoris before, and Ralek (Gracie) called me offering the match. I’m competing in jiu-jitsu all the time, so I’m in. I wasn’t expecting that, but I’m in. I’m not a 20-year-old anymore, Sonnen is from the same generation, and I think it’s going to be cool to compete against him.”
Första gången ”Babalu” klev upp på Metamoris-mattan var förra året då han gick match mot Dean Lister, en match som slutade oavgjort. I hans andra match för organisation vill han imponera och planerar på att avsluta UFC-veteranen och tidigare titelutmanaren Chael Sonnen inom tio minuter.
”I think Sonnen will come in strong and try that guillotine, one of his best attacks, but I don’t see him catching me, submitting me. I will submit him in less than 10 minutes.”
