Det har länge pratats om en match mellan MMA-världens kanske främsta fighters, Ronda Rousey och Cristiane ”Cyborg” Justino, men än så länge har denna matchning inte materialiserats. Verbalt är dock matchen igång sedan länge, de båda damerna gör sitt bästa för att övertyga världen om hur säkra de är på sin seger i en eventuell fight. I en intervju med brasiliansk media levererar Rousey nya verbala smockor mot ”Cyborg”.
Rousey menar att anledningen till att Justino inte redan ingår i UFC:s stall är att hon vill undvika den oförberedda dopingtestning som börjat märkas mer och mer på senare tid.
”I would fight her, but 24 hours after the announcement of out-of-competition drug testing, she asked to be released from the UFC,” säger Rousey. ”I’m under contract with the UFC, I can’t leave. She can come back whenever she wants, I’m here.”
Vidare menar Rousey att Justinos fighting uteslutande bygger på hennes styrka och att hon varken är tekniskt eller strategiskt begåvad. Föga förvånande fortsätter Rousey med att understryka sin egna styrka och sitt höga tempo i matcher:
”… people don’t realize how strong I actually am. Ask the girls that I’ve fought. They weren’t expecting this. Because I don’t look like it, it doesn’t mean I don’t have it. […] My pace, nobody can overwhelm me.”
Rousey sammanfattar sin utläggning om ”Cyborg” med att anledningen till att brasilianskan varit tveksam till bantamviktsdivisionen är att hon med denna viktgräns sannolikt inte skulle kunna dopa sig. Själv har Rousey aldrig varit frestad att ta till förbjudna preparat för att förbättra sin prestation, tvärtom använder hon andras doping som motivation och räds inte de som dopar sig
”… I knew there were people out there doping, but I never used that as an excuse to do it. I just wanted to beat them despite of it. You know what, you can have every advantage in the world over me, you can have better funding, you can have a better program, be on all the drugs in the world, but I’m gonna be good enough to beat you despite of it. The reason why people dope is because they lack self-confidence. The reason why she was using steroids is because that girl does not believe that the best that she has is good enough, and that will always be there in her mind. And you know what, she’s right. The best that she has isn’t good enough, even on drugs.”
