”Here it is. Dana White, if you’re going to bring a UFC event back to Detroit, you’ve really got to bring it. Come big, or don’t come at all.
White is the UFC president and he has to do better than what he gave us at UFC 218 at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday night.
Yes, there were some good fights and some big moments, but the event largely lacked star power and the wow factor.”

”If you want any proof that the event lacked a certain dazzle factor, all you had to do was look in the crowd and see who wasn’t there. No Detroit luminaries. No Eminem. No Kid Rock. No Tommy Hearns. Nobody. Big stars only show up for big events.
I don’t want you to think I don’t respect the fighters. I do, sincerely. I love collegiate wrestling and I’ll readily watch a good boxing match. But MMA is such a mishmash of disciplines, it’s hard to tell what you’re watching sometimes. Once the fighters go to the ground, it’s often a stall-a-thon.”

Fansen reagerade starkt
Det tog dock inte lång tid innan förargade UFC-fans började kommentera Monarrez artikel med
You have a complete lack of appreciation and understanding of MMA, yet still felt qualified to write this trash. I'm embarrassed for you, man.

With all due respect, I don't think you have a valid knowledge of the sport. Demanding 3 title fights like NYC is asinine. #UFC218 was one of the best cards this year. #UFC202 had 0 title fights-was highest selling PPV. Great MMA events should never be defined by title matches.

Terrible take. I can tell you can write but your understanding of what you saw last night couldn’t be based further from what actually took place. Detroit was spoiled last night. It doesn’t take a “Rhonda” or a Conor to make a spectacular card. What you saw last night was special

Well, people are gonna know who you are now. Probably not a good thing
