Rashad Evans har drabbats av en benskada och har dragit sig ur UFC 170 och matchen mot Daniel Cormier. UFC har på grund av det korta varslet inte visat något intresse av att hitta en ersättare. Cormier fortsätter att hoppas på match.
När det stod klart att Rashad Evans (21-3-1) skadat sig och dragit sig ur matchen mot Daniel Cormier (13-0) på UFC 170 deklarerade UFC att ingen ersättare söktes på grund av det korta varslet.
Cormier var allt annat än nöjd över beslutet att lämna honom lottlös den 22 februari och via sociala medier gick han ut för att försöka hitta en ersättare. Han fick napp hos Chael Sonnen (28-14-1) men UFC har ännu inte visat nåt intresse att boka den matchen.
– It’s very sad. I’ve had to do a lot of things different for this camp because of the weight, having to make this weight for the first time healthy and where I’m well enough conditioned. It’s more than just training for a fight. It’s all the other things I had to take into consideration. It’s a completely different situation, säger Cormier till MMA Fighting. Yeah, they said it’s going to be hard to get someone on such short notice. I’m hoping I can get someone to fight. There’s somebody out there that wants to step up to take a fight at this moment. I saw on Twitter that Chael wants to fight. Ok, let Chael fight. Anthony Johnson fought a couple of weeks ago, he’s still in shape. Let him fight. Or if there’s a heavyweight. I’ll fight at heavyweight. There’s somebody out there.
– I’m very sad. It’s very sad, because I’ve worked hard. So if anyone wants to fight, let’s fight. If Chael can fight, I’ll go through Chael and then he can fight Wanderlei later. I promise I won’t hurt him too bad.
I dagsläget talar mycket för att Cormier får vänta på sin chans att göra sin debut i den lätta tungvikten och att fansen får nöja sig med tio istället för elva matcher på UFC 170: Rousey vs McMann den 22 februari.
