Cristiane ”Cyborg” Justino verkar se förbi matchen mot Lina Länsberg om några veckor. Hon har fortfarande blicken på en match med Ronda Rousey.
Det har länge pratats om en match mellan två av de mest dominanta kvinnliga slagskämparna i MMA, Cristiane ”Cyborg” Justino (16-1) och Ronda Rousey (12-1). Men efter Rouseys förlust mot Holly Holm (10-2) för snart ett år sedan och hennes inaktivitet sedan dess har intresset svalnat.
Cyborgs önskan att få till matchen har däremot inte avtagit. I en intervju med MMAjunkie.com förklarade brasilianskan att såpoperan mellan de båda måste få en upplösning innan deras respektive karriärer tar slut.
”I believe there’s a ‘novela’ (Brasiliansk såpopera) between Ronda and I that we need to finish. I think that’s a fight everyone wants to watch.”
Upp till henne
Cyborg verkar ha uppfattningen om att matchen fortfarande efterfrågas. Det märker hon på hur ofta matchen tas upp i intervjuer, något hon tror att amerikanskan också upplever.
“I think they ask the same to her. I think everywhere, they ask the same thing. That’s why I think this fight needs to happen. So that we can finish our careers saying we did that great fight and not that we should have done that fight. We did it. So let’s wait. If she takes that initiative. It’s up to her.”
Den 24:e september på UFC fight night 95 ska brasilianskan välkomna Lina Länsberg (6-1) till oktagonen. En match som inte alls tas upp. Istället fortsätter intervjun handla om Rousey.
“I hope she (comes back). She has a lot of fans. She helped MMA grow a lot. I can’t be selfish and say she didn’t. I think she did a lot for the growth of MMA. I think many girls out there are her fans, and she can show that losing is not giving up. Losing is about coming back and persisting and fighting for your spot again … That’s what you need to show. That you don’t continue only when you’re winning. If you lose, you can come back. There’s no shame in losing.”
Dana White har pratat om att Ronda Rouseys återkomst kommer bli den största galan i UFC-historien. Något Cyborg såklart har koll på och vill ta del av.
