Det hetaste samtalsämnet i MMA-världen för tillfället är vem som ska ersätta Rafael Dos Anjos på UFC 196. Nu uttalar sig UFC:s president Dana White om situationen: ”Conor är beredd att möta vem som helst.”
Efter att Rafael Dos Anjos (25-7) dragit sig ur sitt möte med Conor McGregor (19-2) på UFC 196 har flera fighters erbjudit sig att hoppa in i hans ställe. Såväl Donald Cerrone (29-7) och Nate Diaz (18-10) som den före detta lättviktsmästaren Anthony Pettis (18-4) har gått ut med att de vill möta McGregor.
UFC:s president Dana White kommenterar nu situationen. I en intervju med Yahoo Sports berättar White om McGregors reaktion på återbudet. Enligt honom är ”Notorious” beredd att möta vem som helst av ersättarna. Eller vem som helst överhuvudtaget:
”When we told Conor, he said, ’Come on! This [expletive] guy! Oh my God! He’s pulling out?’ ”
But when we went through the options, he said he’d fight any of them.
”I swear to God, he said, ’I’ll fight anyone.’ He just doesn’t give a [expletive].”
Enligt White är McGregors attityd unik, och han har inte sett något liknande sedan forne lätte tungviktsmästaren Chuck Liddells (21-8) dagar:
”People talk about this strained relationship between us and Conor, and he has a different style than I’ve ever seen, but I have never seen anyone like Conor. The closest was Chuck Liddell, but we’ve never had one like Conor. You think he’s not hurt? But when he says he’s going to fight, he’s going to fight no matter what.”
Alla är dock inte lika pigga på att fightas som ”Mystic Mac”. Både Jose Aldo (25-2) och Frankie Edgar (20-4) avböjde att hoppa in på kort varsel mot McGregor, trots att de båda tidigare har bett och bönat om att få möta honom. Detta är något White är förundrad över:
”It’s amazing, to be honest with you. All of these managers are out there jockeying and they say they want to fight Conor. You hear these guys screaming, ’Conor, Conor, Conor,’ but then when it comes time to take a fight, they turn it down and they’re hurt.”
Det återstår ännu att se vem som blir McGregors motståndare på UFC 196. Vem tror ni Dana White helst vill se som ersättare?
