“It’s any fighter’s dream to go to the UFC,” berättade Souza för MMAjunkie. “I’ll do my part within Invicta. I believe that with this fight, which could be my last one in Invicta, I’ll be able to showcase my skills with a successful title defense. And if (UFC President) Dana White and (CEO) Lorenzo Fertitta believe that I deserve a chance in the UFC, I’ll be ready at any moment.”
“It was a unique opportunity granted by (Invicta FC matchmaker) Julie Kedzie and (President) Shannon Knapp,” sa Souza. “But I believe I was deserving of that shot based on my performances in Brazil. I came in never having lost a single round in professional MMA. It was a great adventure. It expanded my horizons.”
“I think that whoever claims they don’t study their opponent is lying,” sa hon. “But to be overanalyzing an opponent has never been my style. I know my strong points, and so does she. We’ll step in the cage and see who does better within five rounds.”
“Katja Kankaanpaa was an incredible opponent, a true champion,” sa hon. “She had never been submitted before. But due to my team’s great work, as well as my ability to impose my will in times of difficulty, I was victorious. Now that the belt is mine, it will be very difficult to take it from me.”
