En match har strukits från helgens Cage Warriors 70 efter dagens invägning, då Jake Bostwick inte klarade vikt inför mötet med Philip Mulpeter.
Jake Bostwick (15-8) vägde över med hela 12 pounds, cirka 5,5 kg, inför lördagens welterviktsmöte. Philip Mulpeter (7-4) står således utan motståndare, då man från irländarens håll inte var redo att möta engelsmannen med det påtagliga viktövertaget.
“This is obviously a very unfortunate situation,” uppgav vd Graham Boylan. “It’s disappointing for everyone, particularly Philip Mulpeter, but also for the Cage Warriors fans who have been looking forward to this fight for a long time. We reacted to the situation as well as we could.
Man var på jakt efter en ny motståndare för Mulpeter, främst med Henry Fadipe (8-8) i åtanke, dock tvingades man i slutändan att ställa in mötet helt och hållet. Vd:n förklarade hälsoskälen över beslutet, samtidigt som han fortsatt beklagade sig över händelseförloppet.
”Henry was in a five-round title fight just over a week ago in South Africa, and Jake isn’t in great shape physically either right now due to the weight-cut, so there’s no way we could give a fight like that the green light on the grounds of safety,” fortsatte han. ”It’s a blow to lose one of the most highly-anticipated fights on the card, but CWFC 70 is still stacked from top to bottom, so we’re looking forward to another exciting Dublin event tomorrow night.”
