”To be honest, my career has been up and down. So I don’t blame anybody else. I’ve gotten to the number one contender match-ups and I’ve lost those fights. I can’t be mad at anybody. Yes, if you look at those fights, the guys have a history of performance enhancing drugs. But whatever, you can’t be bitter.
Here I am. Most people only get to this position once, I’ve been here four times. After the Dan Henderson fight, Joe Rogan and a lot of the media wrote me off and said ’He’s finished now’. But I’ve built myself back up again several times. And I believe that’s a testament to my fighting spirit and how much I want this. I’m hungry as hell and I want this more than anybody.”
”I just took a fight for the title shot that I’ve waited my entire life for. If I loose this, I’ll never get a shot again. But I’m taking this, not just for a shot, not just for a payday, not just for media attention. I believe I can win this.
I’m a fighter. I’ve fought since I was 8 years old. Nothing has been given to me. I will take this final chapter in my journey and become the world champion.”
