Under torsdagsnatten gick en telefonkonferens inför UFC 183 som går i stapeln nästa helg mellan Anderson Silva och Nick Diaz.
Nick Diaz som har hunnit gå i pension två gånger efter att han förlorade mot Carlos Condit och George St. Pierre. Han har varit ganska tydlig med att han bara vill ha stora matcher om han ska återvända till sporten och har nu fått chansen att gå match mot en av de bästa någonsin, Anderson Silva.
Nick Diaz verkar inte ha ändrat sin attityd när det kommer till att gå fler matcher i framtiden. Han förklarade under telefonkonferensen att han tar en match om han får rätt erbjudande.
”it’s not about fighting for the title, if i have a title it will be because they made a good fight, its not about the belt, its about the right fight and right deal,” sa Diaz.
Diaz fortsätter, ”At this point and time they are gonna use me to fight the most important guy because any guy out there right now aren’t really shining to hard, so they will use me anytime when the need anyone for a big fight, they need a real fighter who fights. All they gotta go is make a deal with me but the thing is you gotta alot of good fighters out there but i’ve been around for awhile and built a fanbase and they are gonna wanna use me.”
Både Nick Diaz och Anderson Silva har varit borta från sporten ett bra tag nu på grund av olika anledningar. Det känns som att vi möjligen får se Diaz gå i pension igen om matchen inte går hans väg.
”I gotta survive this fight, you know, before i decide what im gonna do. After that i will probably see how things look from there. Where gonna see after this fight if im fighting more, i gotta make it through this fight,” sa Diaz.
Nick verkar däremot vara nöjd över att få fightas i mellanvikten eftersom han känner att han inte har fått ut sin fulla potential i weltervikten.
”Yeah, i had less problems with energy. I came more out to my potential as far as athleticism, strength then those fights.”
Diaz förklarar, ”When i fought at 170, especially when i fight three times a year. I can’t say that i’ve been 100% at one of those fights, it’s so hard to have perfect preperation for fighting and cutting making 170 pounds to being in best shape in training camp and to make that cut.”
Diaz som har förberett sig med långa kickboxare inför matchen mot Silva. Han har tagit in Artem Levin och Joe Schilling till hans träningsläger som har hjälpt honom att förbereda sig inför UFC 183.
”I always had Joe Schilling, he has more professional kickboxing then i do, he had alot of fights and now he’s in MMA so i train with Joe alot, im training with alot of big guys. All these guys fight for Glory.”
Han tror även att hans erfarenheter kommer spela stor roll i matchen mot Silva.
”Im just not one dimensional fighter so that would help me in any fight. It’s one of my strengths, i’ve been doing this for a long time so i have alot of experience so i’m open to alot of things. I’m not in the dark, we’re doing the biggest fight there is so i think i have alot to bring to the table,” sa Diaz.
UFC 183 äger rum i Las Vegas, Nevada den 31:a januari.
