Paige VanZant (6-1) kommer att möta Joanne Calderwood (10-1) på UFC Fight Night 80 och vid vinst kan hon mycket väl vara nästa på tur för en titelchans.
VanZant bryr sig inte om kritiken hon får, utan menar att kritiken hon får från andra stråviktare bara handlar om avundsjuka, då hon är i en position som de andra stråviktarna också skulle vilja befinna sig i.
”If I look at Joanna, of course I feel a certain way about her, because she has the belt,” berättade VanZant. “She has something I want. I understand why I get some of the negative feedback from some of the strawweights because I am where they’d like to be.”
“I’m just so blessed right now. I’m not going to take any of these things personally because they don’t know me personally.”
Joanna Jedrzejczyk (10-1) håller i stråviktsbältet nu och VanZant är övertygad om att Jedrzejczyk kommer att fortsätta hålla bältet tills vanZant får sin titelchans.
“She’s a great fighter; I think she’s really good,” sa VanZant. “Of course, we’re seeing a lot of other strawweights with a lot of talent. She’s going to have top competition. But I do think that she will be the person who stays with the title until I get there.”
