Randy Couture har ett par år på nacken nu. Och trots att han varit mästare ett antal gånger vid det här laget, så ser det ut som att han till slut gett upp drömmarna om ett nytt bälte runt midjan.
”I think that realistically the end of me making runs at the title was a while ago. I’ve had a great year. I’ve had some great fights. Not too many of them really put me in line to be a number one contender or make a run at the title. To be honest, I just don’t see myself doing that at this stage in my career. I’ve had my battles. I’ve had my wars. I think there are a lot of guys out there who are hungry and out there and ready for those kinds of wars. I’m kind of in transition and still enjoying competing at a high level, but I think I’m going to definitely focus on making some more movies and heading in that direction.”
Han har väl alltid varit ganska logisk den där Randy, och det är kanske därför folk gillar honom som person. Han kommer nog aldrig någonsin att lämna sporten helt och hållet, men det är ganska osäkert om han kommer att kliva in i buren igen inom den närmaste tiden. Just nu är det filminspelning som gäller, och det kan hända att han inte kommer kliva in i buren alls under hela 2011. Är det kanske så här Couture smyger sig in i pension?
