Det blev tidigare i veckan känt att UFC-welterviktaren Matt Riddle testade positivt för marijuana efter sin vinst mot Che Mills, och att han blivit av med sitt UFC-kontrakt. Det verkar dock som att Mills inte kommer att få tillbaka sitt UFC-kontrakt.
På huvudkortet på UFC on Fuel 7 i London möttes welterviktarna Matt ”Deep Waters” Riddle (7-3, 2 NC) och hemma favoriten ”Beautiful” Che Mills (15-5, 2 NC). Amerikanen Riddle kontrollerade matchen med sin brottning, och lyckades neutralisera Mills striking genom att ta ner honom flera gånger. Mills blev sedan av med sitt UFC-kontrakt efter att ha skrapat ihop ett UFC-rekord på 2-2. ”Deep Waters” tog hem ett oenigt domslut, men testade sedan positivt för marijuana efter matchen. Resultaten ändrades till en No Contest och Riddle blev också av med sitt kontrakt. UFC släppte sedan ett officiellt uttalande gällande situationen.

This is Riddle’s second failed drug test for marijuana within the past seven months. Riddle previously failed a post-fight drug test due to marijuana following his UFC 149 victory over Chris Clements.
As such, the UFC organization is exercising its right to terminate Riddle for breach of his obligations under his Promotional Agreement as well as the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy. The UFC organization has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents. The outcome of the bout against Che Mills was changed to a no contest and the results of the positive test will be reported to the official Association of Boxing Commissions MMA record-keeper.
På UFC 125 vann Thiago Silva ett enhälligt domslut mot Brandon “The Truth” Vera, och den sistnämnde åkte ur UFC. När det sedan visade sig att Silva hade lämnat in ett falskt urinprov ändrades resultatet till en No Contest, och Vera togs tillbaka till UFC. Det verkar dock som att det inte kommer vara fallet med Mills, som inte kommer att tas tillbaka till UFC än. Detta berättade MMA-reportern Ariel Helwani via Twitter nyligen.
