Cody Garbrandt var orankad inför matchen mot den obesegrade Thomas Almeida och nu tycker han att han förtjänar att bli rankad inom topp 10.
Igår vann Cody Garbrandt (9-0) sin största match i karriären på UFC Fight Night 88 då han knockade nummer 7-rankade Thomas Almeida (21-1) i den första ronden och visade att han är ett riktigt hot i bantamviktsdivisionen. Med denna vinst menar Garbrandt att han borde få en plats i topp 10 på UFC:s rankinglista för bantamviktare. Det sade han på presskonferensen efter galan.
”First off, I deserve some respect, that’s going out there, we’re talking about a 21-0 guy who just ran through everybody, and I knocked him out in under three minutes, so let me get at least in the top 10. Let me get these guys that I want to fight, these guys that are high-caliber. The higher the opponent for me, the more that I shine.”
En gala som han önskar att få vara med på är UFC 203 i Cleveland den 10 september då han själv är både född och uppvuxen i delstaten Ohio, precis som tungviktsmästaren Stipe Miocic (15-2) som ska försvara sitt bälte i Cleveland mot Alistair Overeem (41-14, 1 NC).
”UFC 203, Stipe Miocic is defending his belt in Cleveland, Ohio, that’s where I spent a lot of my amateur career and boxing, it’s an hour and 20 minutes from my hometown. I would like to dance with someone there in the Quicken Loans Arena. Whoever it is, [whoever] the UFC wants to give me, I’m more than ready for them.”
”Hopefully the Cavs [the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers] get that Finals win. We got Stipe winning the title, the Cavs, going back there in September, it’s going to be rock-and-roll for sure.”
