Cristiane ”Cyborg” Justino är glad över att det äntligen har skapats en fjäderviktsdivision men känner att det är respektlöst att hon inte får chansen att slåss om bältet.
Det var många som riktade blickarna mot Cristiane ”Cyborg” Justino när det stod klart att UFC skulle skapa en kvinnlig fjäderviktsdivision och att det var Holly Holm och Germaine de Randamie som först skulle slåss om bältet.
”Cyborg” har varit fjäderviktsmästarinna i Strikeforce och är även den regerande mästarinnan i Invicta FC, två titlar som hon försvarat ett stort antal gånger. För många är hon ansiktet utåt för den kvinnliga fjäderviktsdivisionen.
Enligt UFCs president Dana White blev dock ”Cyborg” erbjuden tre separata matcher för titeln men att hon tackade nej till samtliga. Justino säger att det var på grund av hennes senaste viktnedgångar som lämnat henne väldigt svag:
”My last three weight cuts were very hard,” sade Justino i en intervju med Brett Okamoto. ”I said I couldn’t continue doing this. They knew I wanted to fight in March, but they were mad at me for not accepting the fights.
”Yesterday, they said they had no girls to make this division. Today, they rush to make a belt. They are saying something to me.”
White var dock inte sen på att ge svar på tal och gjorde det klart att det inte handlar om att försöka vara respektlös mot ”Cyborg”:
”We’re in the fight business. That’s what we do for a living,” sade White i en intervju med ESPN.com. ”We’re out to disrespect Cyborg? She said she couldn’t make 145 pounds in eight weeks. We offered her a second and a third fight, she turned them down. With everything I’ve got going on in my life, the last thing I’m thinking is, ’Hey, let’s get together and disrespect Cyborg.'”
Trots att ”Cyborg” känner sig ledsen över sin egen situation så är hon ändå glad att kvinnorna får ännu en division att tävla i. Just nu finns det bara två viktklasser i UFC och det finns många kvinnliga fighters som hamnar mellan stolarna.

En potentiell superfight i horisonten
Den 30 december kommer Ronda Rousey att slåss om bantamviktsbältet och skulle båda hon och Holm vinna sina respektive matcher kan en superfight mellan Holm och Rousey intressera många, inklusive ”Cyborg”:
”They could make that fight,” sade Justino.
Hon fortsatte dock med att lufta sina tankar om UFC och avslöjade att hon har två matcher kvar på sitt kontrakt och att hon ibland är sugen på att tävla för en annan organisation:
”Sometimes, I want to fight in another organization outside the UFC, but I have two fights left on my contract. I have to do those two fights. It’s not just about the money or the belts. It’s really hard when you feel like the company doesn’t respect you.”
UFCs president White säger dock att hon får skylla sig själv och att man måste kunna greppa varje möjlighet man får. Skulle Holm och Rousey vinna kan ”Cyborg” komma att bli förbisedd igen:
”We brought her in because she said she could make 135 pounds. When she couldn’t, the weight cut was too hard, we created the 145-pound division — and she still doesn’t want to fight.”
”This is a business of a opportunity. When opportunity arises, you jump up and take it. If you don’t, the bus is gone and it passes you by. If Holly wins and becomes a champion, and that’s the scenario [en returmatch mot Rousey]? I guarantee people will want to see it.”
