“I was trying to be more intelligent, but today my emotion got the best of me leading up to the fight,” berättade Mir för MMAjunkie. “And I just bit down on my mouthpiece and wanted to make a statement. I kept hearing ‘old and crafty,’ so I guess I was kind of dumb tonight and just wanted to show young and brash.”
“I think heavyweights mature later in life,” sa han. “We come upon ourselves older. … Hopefully I don’t have to answer any more am I going to retire questions.”
“Frank looked fantastic. We know Frank’s made a new commitment to striking, and I think you saw that tonight,” sa Sholler. “He’s really putting it in seriously. I think the time off he took really played a role. And the same for Andrei – Andrei’s in a great camp down there with Jackson’s (MMA). All the guys you talk to talk about how renewed he is in his focus and dedication. The heavyweight division is really, really interesting right now. Obviously (Fabricio) Werdum is our champion. Cain (Velasquez) is on the comeback trail. You have Stipe (Miocic), Ben Rothwell, Andrei Arlovski, Frank Mir’s right back in the picture. It’s a really, really fun division right now.”
