JUST NU: Max Holloway inlagd på sjukhuset – Titelmatchen inställd!

As someone who knows the dangers of this sport very well, my thoughts and well wishes are with @BlessedMMA and his family. Hopefully this passes quickly and we get to see him doing what he does best very soon.

All the best to @BlessedMMA and wish him a speedy and full recovery. Big fights come go but we only have one body. Health and safety is the most important thing.

Just had a convo with @BrianTcity, who took the news, well, like a champ. To paraphrase: he won't stress over things he can't control. He's staying focused in case a replacement fight comes, he has NO DOUBT that he and @BlessedMMA will one day put on a show for the fans. #UFC226

Max Holloway has now been forced to pull out of his last 3 fights (all in 2018)
UFC 222 (Frankie Edgar)
UFC 223 (Khabib Nurmagomedov)
UFC 226 (Brian Ortega)— Jason Floyd (@Jason_Floyd) July 5, 2018
The UFC featherweight division has had ten undisputed title fight matchups cancelled (including bouts that got switched like Holloway-Edgar becoming Holloway-Aldo 2).
The UFC has only had ten undisputed featherweight title fights in its entire history.

Looking very much like Ortega won’t fight this Saturday, per multiple sources. Some last-minute options were thrown out but sources say he wants to wait for Holloway. Not 100% yet but moving in that direction. First reported by Combate.
— Ariel Helwani (@arielhelwani) July 5, 2018
Worth noting: per multiple sources very close to Holloway, this had nothing to do with a weight cut gone wrong. He hadn’t even started the weight cut when he was rushed to the hospital Monday night. This isn’t 223 all over again, sources say.

Oh man, what a blow for #UFC226 So unlucky for both @BlessedMMA and @BrianTcity

My heart breaks for both Max and Brian.

This is scary stuff. What we put ourselves through in training/fights can have so many unknown consequences long term.
Wish Max a speedy recovery! https://t.co/zRKIefdMK5
