Roy Nelson var den av de två som fick chansen att stanna kvar i organisationen efter att han tagit hem en vinst mot Mirko ”Cro Cop” Filipovic efter nästan tre ronder. Han är nöjd över det, men han är inte riktigt lika nöjd över att få se Cro Cop gå i pension.
It’s good to just be back in the win column,” säger Nelson till UFC. ”It’s sad to see ’Cro Cop’ is done, but all I know is that if he doesn’t want to retire, he’s still got fight left in him. He hits hard and he can still bang around, and he can tear it up with the rest of them. (I had to) hit him and make him pay. The second round, I hit him hard and I thought I had him. Then he hit me, and he put me on defense real fast. So I put him on his back, and there wasn’t much offense after that.”
Nelson lyckades till slut avsluta Cro Cop via en TKO i den tredje ronden, och avslutade även sin försluststreak efter två domslut som gått åt andra hållet. Nu är alltså The Ultimate Fighter 10-vinnaren plötsligt lite aktuell igen, och väntar nu på sin nästa motståndare vem det nu än kan vara.
