En roll i den nya ”xXx”-filmen var skräddarsydd för Conor McGregor men han drog sig ur och ersattes av Michael Bisping. Anledningen var McGregors returmatch mot Nate Diaz.
Om drygt en månad gör den tredje filmen i xXx-filmserien, kallad ”xXx: Return of Xander Cage” premiär med Vin Diesel i huvudrollen som Xander Cage. Han är även en av producenterna samt ett MMA-fan.
Enligt planerna skulle Conor McGregor få en roll i filmen men han hoppade av och ersattes av den nuvarande mellanviktsmästaren Michael Bisping. I en intervju med brasilianska TV-programmet Giro Combate berättar Vin Diesel om vad det var som gjorde att den irländska MMA-stjärnan hoppade av filmen.
”I wanted to have an English accent in the movie. I had created a role for Conor McGregor and after he lost to Nate Diaz, he had to go to a dark place, he had to go get his manhood back to fight the second time, so he wasn’t able to do this film at the time.
Diesel var ute efter en viss dialekt. Han säger att han ville ha en engelsk dialekt, även om McGregor har en irländsk dialekt, och någon som kan göra fight-scener. Diesel har erfarenhet av både Gina Carano och Ronda Rousey i filmroller.
”But I needed that accent, I wanted this English accent to be speckled in the movie. But I also wanted someone that could do fight sequences. A lot of the UFC guys do great fight sequences in movies. You saw when I put Gina Carano in 6, and Ronda Rousey in 7. I had great experiences when putting UFC fighters in the movie, so I wanted someone that had that English accent, they talk like this, and I got Michael Bisping to come and do that.”
