Det finns en klausul i Jake Shields Strikeforce-kontrakt som säger att han inte längre måste stanna i organisationen om han vinner sin fight mot UFC-veteranen Dan Henderson den 17:e april. Något som Scott Coker har kommenterat genom att säga såhär; ”No, he is not required to stay with the organization if he wins.
Jake Shields har tidigare pratat om att han varit sugen på att slåss i UFC och flera gånger berättat att han skulle vilja utmana Georges St-Pierre om UFC-bältet. Shields har nu pratat lite mer om hans framtidsplaner i en intervju med amerikanska siten MMAjunkie.com.
”I am happy with Strikeforce, they’ve given me big fights like I asked for, so I’m happy with them. But also, I do want big fights, and of course the UFC has a lot of big fights as well.”
”I wanted to be a free agent. I haven’t been a free agent in a couple of years, and I wanted the option of leaving Strikeforce. Not that I’m leaving Strikeforce; I just wanted the option.”
