UFCs VD Dana White vill inte uttala sig om Muhammed ”King Mo” Lawal kommer få gå några fler matcher för UFC efter hans uttalande mot Nevada State Athletic Commissions ordförande Pat Lundwall. För er som inte kommer ihåg, så kallade Lawal henne för en rasistisk bitch efter att Lundwall frågade Lawal om han förstod engelska och om han kunde läsa. Lawal kände sig då kränkt och avreagerade sig på twitter, något han bittert fick ångra när Strikeforce bestämde sig för att släppa honom. Lawal har nu bett omursäkt till Lundwall.
Kenny Florian som är lättviktsfighter i UFC håller inte med White. Han tycker att Lawal borde få en chans till att visa sina talanger i buren. Florian säger till Fight Hub Tv att Lawal är en bra person som låter sina känslor komma i vägen. Det borde inte ligga i vägen för fortsatta matcher för Lawal och hoppas att de tänker om. Florian tycker också att snällare ord kunde kommit inte bara från Lawal utan från Lundwall också.
”It’s really unfortunate, especially for a guy like King Mo, who I really like as a person,” säger Florian till Fight Hub TV. I think you can’t question his talent, the guy is a tremendous talent and a tremendous fighter and, you know, sometimes we are all going to be victims of our own emotions and I think that was the case with King Mo. I think he definitely regrets what he says but I think the penalty was extremely harsh, as well. I think anytime you et someone who questions you and is supposed to be in a position of authority, and kind of says something like that to you, ”Do you speak English?” Listen, I don’t care who you are or where you’re from, that’s going to leave a bad taste in your mouth. I think there is nice ways to say on both sides. I think King Mo has learned from this and a guy that talented needs to be fighting in the UFC. I think he is sorry for what he said and I hope to see him, if not in Strikeforce, then hopefully in the UFC as soon as possible.”
Efter mötet med NSAC blev det bestämt att Lawal blir avstängd i nio månader och först efter det kan han söka sig tillbaka till sin gamla arbetsgivare om det är dit han vill.
