Beneil Dariush (10-1) kommer ifrån en submissionvinst över Daron Criuckshank (16-6-0-1) på UFC 185, men Dariush säger att han har en lång väg att gå innan han kommer att känna sig som en veteran inom sporten.
Dariush känner att han behöver gå många matcher för att uppnå sin fulla potential.
“I have a lot of room (to improve),” sa Dariush. “I think this was my 11th fight; I need to fight maybe, like, 20 more times so I can finally reach my potential.”
Dariush prestation i hans match mot Cricukshank gjorde att han vann en performance of the night-bonus, då han vann via rear naked choke. Det var Dariush första bonus i UFC.
Dariush tränar tillsammans med Rafael Dos Anjos (24-7), som nyligen blev UFCs nya lättviktsmästare efter att ha dominerat Anthony Pettis. Dariush har sagt att han aldrig kommer att gå match mot Dos Anjos.
“Never,” sa han. “We’re family. It’s different. I go to his house, I eat with his kids, I talk to his wife all the time – how could I go and fight a guy like that? How could I fight my own brother? Imagine if I left a scar on the guy? I’d have to look at it for the rest of my life. It’s wrong, in my opinion.”
“If I’m the No. 1 contender and Rafael is champion, I’ll move up to 170.”
